PERUMA - Payyoli Emirates Residents United Malayalee Association is a public limited company incorporated in Dubai, UAE by Payyolians for the welfare of expatriates from Payyoli area (Payyoli, Thikkodi and Thurayoor Panchayats, Kerala). Established in Dubai on 19 March 2004, Peruma was a modest beginning to bring all Payyolians in the UAE under one roof irrespective of religious-political differences and also to uplift the economic and social status of the people of Payyoli on the sole basis of humanitarian and brotherly concepts. Peruma, during the past years, has been instrumental in alleviating many of the problems and sufferings of Payyolians in the UAE and has been regularly helping the needy people in Payyoli.

Mr. Ismail Meladi, poet and journalist inaugurated the first general body meeting, which was attended by more than 450 people. Mr. Kasim Kalathil was elected the first president, Mr. Mr. Rajan Kolavippalam the general secretary and Mr. Ali T K the treasurer.

The first annual programme of Peruma was celebrated in grand style on 17th June 2005 in Dubai. It was inaugurated by Mr. Venu Gopal (Vice Consul General) in the presence of chief guest, none other than Olympian Mrs. PT Usha - the pride of Payyoli. On this historic occasion the flagship project Peruma Properties, a Public Limited Company was launched which aimed at achieving economic self sufficiency of the members of Peruma. A fund was to be formed for constructing a commercial complex in the heart of Payyoli town by taking shares from ordinary Peruma members.


PERUMA PROPERTIES

Peruma Properties is an initiative of the Peruma Group with the main objective for achieving economic self sufficiency for its members after their return to India. Incepted as a public limited company in Dubai, UAE in September 2006, the move was based on the Peruma’s targeted objective of achieving “Economic Stability Instead of Economic Burden.”

An advisory board was formed in Payyoli under the leadership of Mr. M Samad and a nine member Director Board was also formed in UAE to oversee the activities of the company. The Director Board with a Managing Director is elected by the general body of Peruma.

A land of 60 cents was purchased at IPC Road in 2007 and a camp office was inaugurated by Mr. Viswan Master MLA in December. As a first project, a commercial complex with 50 shop rooms with an auditorium and flats was to be constructed on the site. The total cost of construction was estimated at Rs 2.5 crores. The foundation stone for the commercial centre was laid by NK Premachandran, hon’ble Minister of Water Resources on 12 January 2009 in the presence of MD Mr. Kasim Kalathil and DB member Mr. Musthafa Kattil. The construction work was kicked off on 25th May 2009 in the presence of Mr. Abdul Hakeem, member of the Director Board and 24 shops on the northern side were completed. The remaining part of the building works in progress at full swing and will be completed by 2013


Corporate Social Responsibility

Peruma believes in giving back to the community.  From the very beginning, we have endeavoured to make a positive contribution to the underprivileged communities by supporting a wide range of socio-economic, educational, health and environment initiatives.

We have been focusing primarily on the welfare of economically and socially deprived sections of society and have thus helped to enrich the quality of life of the community. With our ventures we have been touching the lives of hundreds of people in Payyoli and other regions positively by supporting environmental and health-care projects and social, cultural and educational programmes.
